Filipe Figueira is a landscape painter, focusing on Cortes and the surrounding islands. His work focuses on the sensory experience of a landscape, captured through quick sketches, and recalled with closed eyes, rather than using a detailed reference to guide the work. The works also try to capture the sense of movement and energy in a landscape –  where every part is in motion – from the quick flow of water, to the mountains that move over millennia.
